A tractor trailer truck overturned on I-26E at about the 130-mile marker early Wednesday morning. This is just inside Lexington County in the area known as the Horse’s Neck or Sandy Run.
Firefighters and EMS crews were dispatched just after 4:00 a.m. from both Calhoun and Lexington counties. The first due team from Lexington County’s Sandy Run station arrived and reported that the accident was in fact on the Lexington side of the line.
Some of the interstate was blocked for a time and state troopers routed motorists around the wreck. Eventually, they had all equipment and personnel move to the west bound lanes to minimize the disruption in traffic.
Lexington County’s resources were released from the scene just before 6:00 a.m. State troopers remained on the scene while the mess was cleaned up.
The number of vehicles involved in the accident, its cause, and an identification of the contents of the trailer were not available as of this writing.
