Man Sought for June 17th Attempted Murder

On June 17, 2017 eye witnesses and video evidence show that Charles Leroy Cleckley (age 30) of Orangeburg, SC and Virgil Dontrice Haggood (age 30) of Neeses, SC were at a St Matthews home when a confrontation occurred between Haggood and another unnamed person at the residence.

Haggood produced a handgun and shot the unnamed person seven times at close range. The shooting victim was severely injured but survived. Cleckley and Haggood then left the scene.

An arrest warrant was issued for Cleckley on June 28 for Misprision/Misprision of a Felony. Misprision is a failure to report knowledge of a felony to appropriate authorities.

An arrest warrant was issued on Virgil Dontrice Haggood on June 23 for Assault and Attempted Murder.

Both, Haggood and Cleckley are being sought by Calhoun County Sheriff's Department. Haggood, specifically, should be considered armed and dangerous. He is known to frequent Orangeburg and Richland Counties.
