Sandy Run Ruritans Spread Christmas Cheer in the Heat of Summer

On Friday, July 28, Sandy Run Ruritans met to pack and disperse Christmas bags to some very special people. The Club participated in its annual Christmas in July delivering bags full of fruit, vegetables, and canned and packaged foods to the shut-ins and elderly of Sandy Run. The event was made possible through 100 percent participation of the Club’s members.

During the year, at their monthly meetings, Ruritans donate canned and pre-packaged food through Project 52. The project supports the Club’s food pantry, the Thanksgiving and Christmas adopt-a-family events, and Christmas in July.

Ruritan members report back year after year that they feel blessed and cheered through the home visits made in delivery.

This year’s Christmas in July goodie bags contained a special surprise; Hailey Hardee, a very thoughtful Sandy Run junior

Ruritan, handmade flower pens. The pens were a lovely and practical gift for jotting notes, etc., as well, as a keepsake to remember the occasion.

Sandy Run Ruritan Club meets the first Tuesday of every month at Sandy Run Community Center at 7 p.m.
