Each Wednesday, May through October, the Calhoun County Council on Aging hosts a farmers' market that's open to everyone. While there are sometimes produce items from other states it does feature South Carolina grown fruits and vegetables. These items can be purchased with cash, Healthy Bucks, WIC/SNAP and once each season SC Department of Social Services Farmer's Market Vouchers.
This Wednesday, August 16, a nutrition educator from SCDHEC will demonstrate recipes at the CCCoA farmers market using foods grown in South Carolina and available for purchase that same day. Samples and and a copy of the recipes along with a list of available South Carolina fruits and vegetables, tips on smart shopping for produce, and how to include more fruits and vegetables in their meals will be available.
The farmers market is open 11:00am thru 2:30pm. and is held on the grounds at:
