St. Matthews, S.C - Calhoun County Farm Bureau and local Farm Bureau Insurance agents are bringing a little more joy to this holiday season by helping those in the community facing financial hardship.
A $1000 check was presented to “Calhoun County Cares,” for a new initiative to meet the needs of the county’s most vulnerable residents. Farm Bureau Insurance agency manager Ben Davis and Calhoun County Farm Bureau offered their donation as part of the company’s holiday community outreach program called Farm Bureau Cares. Through Farm Bureau Cares, county Farm Bureau offices across South Carolina provide a monetary donation during December to help a family or charity of their choice during the holidays. Each local donation made by the County Farm Bureau and local agents is matched by Farm Bureau Insurance.
The Farm Bureau Cares donation will be used to purchase 50 $20 gift cards to help offset food and prescription drug costs this Christmas for elderly residents in Calhoun County who have the greatest financial needs. The Department of Social Services is helping identify those who qualify for assistance.
Statewide, more than $38,000 was donated through Farm Bureau Cares to assist South Carolina charities and countless individuals this holiday season.
