ST. MATTHEWS, SC: The March 26, 2018 Calhoun County Council Meeting was called to order by Vice-Chairman James Haigler and the invocation was given by Councilman John Nelson.
Following the agenda issued March 23rd, the minutes from the March 12th regular meeting was approved.
There were no committee reports or appointments.
Ted Felder, Calhoun County Deputy Administrator, gave the Calhoun County Animal Control quarterly report.
Some of the players that participated in the 2018 Co-ed Winter Basketball Program were recognized by Tyrone Dantzler, Facilities and Recreation Director/Grants Coordinator.
Updates on the courthouse move were made by Ted Felder, Calhoun County Deputy Administrator. He also discussed awarding of the Courthouse renovations contract and selection of Financial Advisor in relation to the $1,500,000 bond for these renovations. Council approved the request by Administration to award the contract to Huss, Inc under supervision of MEADORS, Inc who are the Project Managers.
Dr. William Molnar of Lower Savannah Council of Governments, gave an update to Council on the activities in which LSCoGs has been involved in Calhoun County.
Ordinances 2016-16, 2018-1 and 2018-2 are on hold. Ordinances 2018-6, 2018-7, and 2018-8 passed second reading. You can read these ordinances here: AGENDA
Lee Prickett, Calhoun County Administrator, gave a brief update on the golf course opening dates. A PGA Consultant is to attend an April 11th Council Work Session to discuss several items concerning hiring management/supervisors at the golf course. A grand opening hasn't been announced but a high school golf tournament is scheduled for April 10th. A "very soft opening" is planned for April 12!
The new Calhoun County Magistrate, Jeff Bloom, was introduced to council by Lee Prickett.
Council went into Executive Session to discuss Economic Development - Eastman Site/Zeus in reference to providing water and wastewater to the Site.
The next scheduled council meeting is April 9, 2018 at 5:30pm in the Courthouse Annex in the Council Chambers.
