Meeting Scheduled for Tri-County Electric Cooperative Board of Trustees

The next regularly scheduled meeting for the Tri-County Electric Cooperative Board of Trustees is

Thursday, June 21, 2018 @ 1:00pm

Tri-County Electric Cooperative

6473 Old State Rd.

St. Matthews, SC 29135

Members may request to observe the meeting by contacting Tri-County Electric Cooperative not later than 12:00pm (noon) one business day prior to the meeting. In this instance the request must be received by June 20th @ 12:00pm. Members may also request to address the Board of Trustees at these meetings. Fifteen minutes at the beginning of each board meeting is reserved for member comments. A member must request to address the board by 12:00pm one business day prior to the meeting. Again, in this case that would be by Jun 20th @ 12:00pm. The first 5 members who make their requests to address the board may do so one at a time. They will each be given 3 minutes for their comments. Once a member has addressed the board he/she must leave the meeting unless they have also requested to observe the meeting per the observation requirements listed above. A member is considered the household forwhich TCE provides services and to whom a member number has been issued. For instance, a husband and wife are considered one member. Therefore a request to observe would include the husband and wife.

The bylaws governing these meetings stipulate that only members may attend and/or address the board. These meetings are not open to the public.

The petition to remove the current board of trustees is still open if members would like to sign it.

This is the petition verbiage:

'This petition is presented by members of Tri-County Electric Cooperative. The mission of this petition is to remove the remaining Board of Trustee members as of May 25, 2018. The charges these members dictate as grounds for removal are exaggerated compensation and mismanagement of Cooperative per diem for Trustees. The members signing this petition use Article IV Section 7 of Tri-County Electric Cooperative bylaws as basis for removal.

The bylaws state:

“Section 7. Removal of Board Members by Members. Any member may bring charges against a board member and, by filing with the Secretary such charges in writing together with a petition signed by at least ten percentum of the members or 300, whichever is the lesser, may request the removal of such board member by reason thereof. Such board member shall be informed in writing of the charges at least 30 days prior to the meeting of the members at which the charges are to be considered and shall have an opportunity at the meeting to be heard in person or by counsel and to present evidence in respect of the charges; and the person or persons bringing the charges against him shall have the same opportunity. The question of the removal of such board member shall be considered and voted upon at the meeting of the members and any vacancy created by such removal may be filled by vote of the members at such meeting without compliance with the forgoing provisions with respect to nominations.”'
